About

Hey guys!

I’m Rachel. I’m a 20-something living in Baltimore and working in the apparel industry. I love dogs, crafting, fashion, museums, working out, and most of all FOOD.

That’s why I’m here. I want to share recipes and meals that are delicious and accessible, and to help you find new things that fuel your body and fuel your soul.

Growing up, as for many of you, food was love. Food was the thing that your grandma pushed as soon as you walked in the door.

You hungry? No, grandma I just ate lunch 30 minutes ago…Ok, I’ll make you something. Here. Eat.

AmIRight? But it was all out of love.

Food is cultural, it’s comforting, it’s celebratory, and it binds many of us together, it’s the language we all understand! There is a lot of emotional connection to food; it brings up memories and represents different things for each of us. I loved growing up with a mother who is one of the best cooks ever, and who nourished our family by cooking pretty much every day. She is an amazing cook, baker, and all around creative and resourceful person. She let us have treats, and friday night pizza, but for the most part she was cooking. We always had things to indulge in around the house, but I think that’s why we didn’t tend to abuse it.

I never gave much thought to what I was consuming. Was it nourishing me? Many times yes, but many times no. I ate out of boredom, out of celebration, hunger, emotion, and just pretty much whenever I wanted something, let’s be real.

Over the past year or so, I started cleaner and healthier eating, as well as starting my fitness journey (back to working out after years off, which I will write more about later).  I’ve been focusing on how food makes me feel physically, as well as evaluating my emotional connection with food and cooking. There have definitely been some challenges. I’ve yo-yo’d between complete clean eating and going back to having whatever I wanted. I want this blog to be honest and helpful. Healthy, whole eating is hard to do all the time. It takes mindfulness and preparation, but it’s also rewarding.

I hope you’ll join me here and find some delicious recipes that you can go back to again and again and feel good about. Happy to have you here! 🙂

Xoxo,

rachel
